Youssouf Mulumbu is a midfielder of West Bromwich. He was born on 25 January 1987 in Kinshasa, Zaire.
Mulumbu’s career took off in 2004, when he joined PSG. However, the African footballer first needed to train in the club’s academy so he could gain the required level of skill to perform professionally. Youssouf spent first two years in Paris Saint-Germain B, made 50 appearances and found the net one time.
In 2006 the head coach let him on the field with the first team, which surely gave him an impetus for becoming more self-confident. He did great at the position of a defensive midfielder, being a firm link between defensive and attacking lines. In 2007 the footballer was sent on a season long loan to Amiens SC, where he made 23 appearances and became more workmanlike in playing his role. After returning back to his native PSG, Youssouf spent some time in Paris before being scouted by English side West Bromwich.
In January 2009 Mulumbu completed a six-month loan deal with ‘The Baggies’ and took part in six matches of the temporary club. That was enough for the management to want his signing on a permanent basis. In the summer 2009, Youssouf penned a contract with West Bromwich, where he continues to play up till now. Those three years were really booming for the footballer as he became the pivot of the team and a regular at the position of a defensive midfielder, who made 108 appearances and went on to net 11 times.
In 2007 Mulumbu took part in three matches of the France national U-20 and U-21 teams. From 2008 Youssouf was capped 12 times for the Congo national squad.
