Yuki Otsu was born on 24 March 1990 in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. The player is known for an attacking playing style with the ability to play not only as a midfielder, but also as a winger and playmaker. Otsu has been praised for his phenomenal pace, excellent dribbling skills and vision ability.
Yuki started playing football mainly because of his elder brother’s example. The Japanese began his youth career at Shinshō Tokiwa SSS. Then Otsu entered the Kashima Antlers youth system and in 2005 he joined Seiritsu Gakuen High School, where he stayed for two years. On 9 March 2008 Yuki played his debut J1 League match for Kashiwa Reysol. On 29 April 2009 the footballer delivered his first goal for the club. In total Otsu made 66 appearances and netted 7 goals for Kashiwa Reysol. The player enjoyed great authority with his supporters, due to which they gave him the nickname Charao and wrote a song dedicated to the Japanese.
In the 2011/12 season Yuki signed a contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach until 30 June 2014 and was given the number 23 shirt. The footballer was predicted a great future ahead of him, therefore his debut came on 6 August 2011 in a defeat to 1 FC Köln. Otsu made his first team debut on 22 October 2011 in a match against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. His team lost again, which condemned Yuki to warming the bench for the rest of the season. Later he made one more appearance for the club’s main team.
Hving lost a place in the team’s the Japanese moved to the Netherlands and joined VVV-Venlo.
Otsu has been included in the Japan U-23 team. He made his international debut in their opening match against Spain during the 2012 Summer Olympics, scoring two goals.
