Yuri Lodygin was born in Vladimir, Russia. His family moved to Greece when the boy was 10. He has both Greek and Russian citizenship.
Yuti started his career in football in one of the local Greek teams and at the age of 15 he was offered to join the reserve squad of Xanthi. In 2009 the goalkeeper got promoted to the main roster but warmed the bench during the season. In the season 2010/2011 Lodygin played 25 matched for Eordaikos on loan.
On the last day of 2011/2012 season, Lodygin debuted in the Greek Super League and helped his eam to win by 4-2. Later on the youngster was given a chance to feature on constant basis, made 22 appearances and received a call-up from the Greece U21 team.
In the summer 2013 Yuri was scouted by Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg and signed a deal, moving back to his home country.
