Yuri Zhirkov (born on 20 August, 1983 in Tambov, Russia) is a left winger for Dynamo Moscow and the Russian national team.
Prior to joining Dynamo, Zhirkov successfully played for Spartak Tambov, CSKA Moscow, Chelsea and Anzhi Makhachkala, totaling more than 300 appearances and 30 goals for those clubs.
Yuri Zhirkov is twofold winner of Russian Premier League, fourfold winner of Russian Cup and Russian Super Cup, bronze medalist of Euro 2008, UEFA Cup Champion, Champion of English Premier League, and other events. In October 2008 he was nominated for Ballon d'Or. In December of that same year, Yuri was rightfully named Footballer of the Year in Russia. Yuri Zhirkov usually plays as a left midfielder. However, at the Euro 2008, he successfully played as a left back and aided the team’s attacking lineup.
Since 2005 Yuri Zhirkov made about 60 appearances for the Russia national team.
