Yuriy Shturko was born on 8 October 1984 in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine. He currently plays as a midfielder for FC Metalurh.
In 2002, Shturko joined the first team of FC Krystal Kherson, starting his professional career. The midfielder performed for FC Krystal for two years, during which he was popular with the head coach, who inserted Yuriy into the starting line-up in many games. During his spell at the club Shturko played in 44 games and put it in the back of the net once.
In 2004, the player moved to FC Zirka Kirovohrad, where he performed during one season, appearing on the field in 17 games and scoring 3 goals. In 2005, Yuriy Shturko moved to FC Kryvbas-2 Kryvyi Rih, where he played the part of the 2005/2006 season, making 28 appearances and 7 goals.
In 2006, Yuriy joined FC Volyn Lutsk, thereafter he moved to MFC Mykolaiv for one season. In the 2006/2007 season, Shturko played in 31 games, managing only 2 goals. FC Dniester Ovidiopol bought the midfielder in 2007, signing the contract for several years with the Ukrainian footballer. The midfielder performed as a key attacking player for two seasons, netting 13 goals in 69 matches.
In the 2009/2010 season, Yuriy played again for FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih, appearing on the field in 14 matches and scoring 1 goal. In the 2010/2011 season, Shturko performed for FC Zakarpattia Uzhhorod, clocking up 26 appearances and 2 goals. In 2011, Yuriy Shturko joined FC Metalurh Zaporizhya, but has not played a single match yet.
