Zé Luís plays as a striker for Braga. He was born on 24 January 1991 in Fogo, Cape Verde.
Luís started his youth career at his hometown side Académica Fogo. Then in 2008 the striker moved to the Batuque where he spent one year. In 2009 Luís came in view of Gil Vicente scouts that made their best to entice away the young talent.
In 2009 Zé Luís penned his first professional contract with Gil Vicente where he spent two seasons. During this period the young footballer sometimes got into the starting line-up but he didn’t become the key player. Nevertheless the striker managed to kick 14 goals in 26 games. His solid performance drew the attention of Braga. In the summer 2011 Luís accepted Braga’s offer and signed a long-term deal with the Portuguese team. Having moved to his new club Zé was training with Braga for half a year without coming on the pitch.
The management of Braga didn’t want Luís to get out of shape which he gained in Gil Vicente so he was sent on loan to the club which was familiar to him. During the rest of the season the football player sometimes earned a place in the starting line-up of Gil Vicente. In the summer 2012 Luís returned to Braga. However, he was loaned again for the season 2013/2014, this time to Videoton.
Since 2010 Zé Luís is capped to the Cape Verde national football team.
