Zhambyl Kukeyev is a Kazakh professional footballer, an attacking midfielder. He was born on 20 September 1988 in Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan.
Zhambyl started out his professional career with a Kazakh second-division side Temirzholshy Almaty in 2005. He enjoyed a rise in the following campaign moving to the Premier League team Astana. Kukeyev made a total of 53 league matches for the club for two seasons and then switched to Alma-Ata where he was a vital player with 6 goals in 27 matches of the 2008 season. In the 2009 and 2010 campaigns, Kukeyev played for Lokomotiv Astana and in 2011 he signed for Shakhter Karagandy. In January 2014 the player moved to rivals Kairat.
Zhambyl Kukeyev represents the Kazakhstan national team since 2006. He scored his maiden international goal in a 1-5 defeat to England in October 2008.
