Zhang Yuan is a Chinese footballer currently playing either as a midfielder or a striker for Guangzhou R&F from the Chinese Super League. He was born on 8 December 1989 in Beijing, China.
Zhang started his professional career at Chengdu Blades in 2008 making a debut in a 1-1 draw with Liaoning Whowin FC in March 2008. He scored his maiden goal in a 1-1 draw with Changsha Ginde. Overall, Zhang Yuan made 90 appearances and scored 12 goals during his four-year spell at the club. In 2012, he signed a contract with Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F.
As a youth, Zhang Yuan featured for the China U-20 and U-23 teams in between 2007 and 2009. In 2012, he earned his first caps to the senior national side making a debut in a 0-1 loss to Sweden on 6 September 2012.
