Zheng Long is a Chinese midfielder, born on 15 April 1988 in Qingdao, China.
Zheng joined the youth football academy of his hometown club FC Qingdao Jonoon at the beginning of 2000s. Before entering the institution he managed to impress its staff during an exhibition match and successfully passed some entrance tests. Everyone was amazed by the youngster’s natural talent and the teenager soon joined the ranks of one of the youth team, which corresponded to his age.
There he quickly moved up through the academy’s hierarchy and got a lot of playing experience, representing the youth team at different levels. Mastering his skills on the training ground, he made full use of them during the youth championship fixtures, establishing himself, as one of the brightest homegrown talents. In 2006 the footballer finished the academy and moved on to the professional level.
That year he took part in one more exhibition match and managed to persuade the first-team staff of the club, that he is ready to shine with the senior team. However, Zheng still had to continue his development in order to get his first-team chance and finally debuted with the first-team on 13 March 2007 during a 1-1 draw versus FC Zhejiang Lvcheng. Since then Long has started to make his name with the squad, gradually becoming a key player in a midfield and the club’s vice-captain. The player made 170 appearances for the club, hitting the net on 25 occasions. In 2013 the player was loaned to Guangzhou Evergrande.
At the international level Zheng was first called-up to join his national side in 2009. He has already made 7 starts and scored 4 goals in a China national football team shirt.
