A Chinese footballer Zong Lei performs for Tianjin Teda as a goalkeeper. Zong was born on 26 July 1981 in Tianjin.
In 1998, Lei entered the youth academy of Tianjin Teda FC and his junior career started. He spent two years at the club’s youth department. During that period he earned his first performing experience and finished his formation as a goalkeeper.
In 2001, Zong joined the senior side of Tianjin Teda. He made a single appearance for the team and left the club.
In 2004, the keeper moved to Shandong Luneng. For a short period Lei replaced the team’s goalkeeper. That year, he became the holder of the Chinese FA Cup and Super League Cup. But Zong didn’t manage to establish himself as a member of the first XI and decided to leave the club.
In 2006, the footballer signed a contract with Changchun Yatai for a fee of 2 million yuan. The move proved to be a success. Zong earned the place in the main squad almost at once. In 2007, the team earned the title in the Chinese Super League.
In 2013 the goalie switched to Tianjin Teda.
In 2007, Zong Lei played for the China national side in a preparation for the 2007 AFC Asian Cup.
