Aalesunds Fotballklubb is a professional football club from Ålesund, Norway. The team’s main rival is Molde FK.
Aalesunds was formed on June 25, 1914. In 2005 the club said goodbye to the Kråmyra Stadium and moved to a new stadium – Color Line Stadion. Aalesunds’ relocation to a new home gave the club a chance to climb the football ladder. The side’s average attendance in the 2006 campaign was the highest ever attendance in the Norwegian First Division with about 10 000 fans regularly turning out at Color Line Stadion. That season also saw Aalesunds earn promotion to the elite division.
A sweet moment for thousands of the club’s fans came in 2009 as the team lifted the Norwegian Cup, outclassing their bitter rivals Molde FK in the final. It was a never-to-be-forgotten achievement for Aalesunds. The Tangoshirts went on to win another cup in 2011. In the 2012/2013 Europa League campaign the side reached the third qualifying round but lost out to APOEL from Nicosia.
Fulham left-back John Arne Riise and Manchester United glovesman Anders Lindegaard are among the most outstanding players who wore the club’s jerseys.
