FC Ararat Yerevan is a football club from Yerevan.
Founded in 1935, Ararat became one of the oldest teams in Armenia. The team announced about themselves during the Soviet era when they were crowned the Soviet Top League champions and won the Soviet Cup in 1973. They repeated their cup success in 1975 and went in the shade until the 1990s. The year 1993 brought Ararat true glory as they claimed their first, and for now only, Armenian Premier League title and the Armenian Cup. They welcomed another four cups and one super cup to their trophy cabinet until 2008. The team met with much success on the European scene. They climbed up to the 1974/75 UEFA European Cup quarter-finals losing to Bayern Munich 1-2 on aggregate.
Ararat players are often nicknamed the White Eagles. They play their home matches in red and black kits at Abovyan City Stadium which can host up to 5,500 spectators.
