Clube Atlético Paranaense is a Brazilian football club from Curitiba founded in 1924. In 1925, they already claimed their first honor which was the Paranaense State Championship title. All in all, the club won 22 state championships, which earned them a nickname of Hurricane. The year 2001 turned to be a historic campaign for Atlético Paranaense as they recorded for now their only Campeonato Brasileiro Série A title.
On the international arena, Atlético Paranaense made several appearances in the Copa Libertadores. The 2005 edition was the most successful for them as the team finished as runners-up losing only to São Paulo in the finals. In 2006, the club produced brilliant display in the Copa Sudamericana as they reached the tournament semi-finals.
The team play their home matches at Estádio Joaquim Américo Guimarães which can hold up to 32,800 spectators.
