Atyrau

History and achievements

Atyrau is a Kazakh football club from the city of Atyrau that was founded in 1980.

The team was promoted to the First Division in 2000 and a season later earned a ticket to the top flight. The following two seasons saw the team reach the best result in their history, finishing second in the Premier League.

The European results of the side are less impressive with Atyrau reaching only the second qualifying round of the Europa League.

Zheksenbai Kusainov is the chairman of the club.

The nickname of the team is the Oilman.
