The history of Bala Town Football Club dated back to1880s. Initially there were two teams in the city, and then several more amateur teams were formed. Bala Press Team became the strongest among them. At the beginning of 1950s the team joined the Welsh National League Wrexham Area and in 1954 they joined the Cambrian Coast League. In 1964 the club returned to the Welsh National League Wrexham Area and competed there till 2004, when they earned promotion to the Cymru Alliance. Between 1968/69 and 1987/88 Bala played in the Division 1, in 1989/90 promoted and the following season dropped from it and then relegated to the third tier. In 1995/96 the team advanced to the second division and in in 1997/98 won the promotion to the Premier Division.
The 2004/05 season was their first season in the Cymru Alliance. Since then the team was close to promotion several times and finally in 2008/09 the team were promoted to the Welsh Premier League.
Maes Tegid is the team’s home venue, it has a capacity of 3,000 spectators and there are 304 seats in it.
