History and achievements
Bournemouth is a football club that was established in 1899 under the name Boscombe F.C.
During the early days of the team it competed in the regional leagues, while the first run in the FA Cup dates back to the season 1913/1914. The first match in the Football League Bournemouth played on 25 August 1923 against Swindon and lost 3-1.
The team won its first silverware after the Second World War defeating Walsall in the Third Division South Cup final.
In 1972 the team adopted the current name.
The club’s most glorious spell started under the helm of Harry Redknapp. The team overcame Manchester United in the FA Cup run in January 1984 and earned promotion to the second division of the English League where they played for three years.
During the 2000s Bournemouth were close to extinction collecting the debts of around £4 m, yet they managed to survive and even received promotion to the Football League One in the season 2009/2010.
Three years later the club won promotion to the Championship for the second time in their history by finishing second in League One.
The colors of the club’s kit are red and black and they refer to A.C. Milan strip. The nickname is the Cherries. The home ground is the Dean Court that can hold up to 10,000.
