La Berrichonne de Châteauroux is a football club in France, named after the city it is located in. The sports club was established in 1883 and football section was introduced in 1903.
In 1990/91 the team advanced to Division 2, in 1996/97 they advanced to the top division and after a season were relegated back. In 2003/04 Châteauroux was the finalist of the Coupe de France, but lost to Paris Saint-Germain 0-1. Nevertheless Châteauroux got a chance to compete in the UEFA Cup as PSG already had a place at the European tournament, being second in the league.
The team’s home venue is Stade Gaston Petit, which has a capacity of 17,000.
