Cork City is a professional football side based in Cork, Ireland. The club currently performs in the League of Ireland Premier Division. The team plays its home matches at Turners Cross, which can hold 7,365 people. The club’s colors are green and white.
Cork City was established in 1984 and joined the League of Ireland straight away. In the 1987/1988 season the club won its first trophies, the League of Ireland Cup and the Munster Senior Cup. In the 1991/1992 season Cork City debuted in the UEFA Cup first round. The club drew 1-1 with Bayern Munich at home, but lost the away fixture. The 1992/1993 season saw Cork City win the League of Ireland Premier Division for the first time in the history of the club. Apart from that, the club lifted the 1998 FAI Cup, 2 League of Ireland Cups and 8 Munster Senior Cups. The team won its second league title only in 2005.
From 2008 to 2010 the club suffered from financial difficulties, subsequently being deprived of the license. However, the fans managed to support Cork City financially and restore the name of the club. Since then, Cork City has been a supporter-owned club.
