Crawley Town is a football team that was created in 1896, yet the club obtained semi-professional status only in 1962. The following year the side joined Division One of the Southern League.
Crawley Town claimed many regional trophies, including the 1970 Sussex Professional Cup, the 1980 and 1984 Gilbert Rice Floodlight Cup, the 1986 Southern Counties Combination Floodlight Cup, the 1990 and 1991 Sussex Senior Cup. The team won the Sussex Floodlight Cup in three successive years from 1991 to 1993.
The most successful run of the team in the domestic cup was in the season 1991/1992 when they progressed to the third round where they lost to Brighton 5-0.
After finishing the season 2010/2011atop of the League Two, Crawley received promotion to the League One.
The club’s nicknames are the Reds and the Red Devils.The home ground of the team is Broadfield Stadium that can hold up to 5,996 supporters.
