Criciúma Esporte Clube is a Brazilian club from the city of Criciúma founded in 1947.
The club began their way in amateur leagues of Brazilian football. The 1960s saw them face financial hardships and the team had to be disbanded. In 1976, Criciúma got their second birth. Throughout their history Criciúma spent only 11 seasons in the top flight and haven’t claimed a single title yet (as of 2012). Their historic campaign was the 1991 season as they lighted up the Brazilian Cup victory beating Grêmio in the finals. The achievement earned them a spot in the 1992 Copa Libertadores where they finished 5th. In the 2012 season, Criciúma finished as runners-up in Brazilian Serie B and won promotion to the top flight after nine years of absence.
Criciúma players have black and yellow kits. They are often nicknamed Tigers. The team play their home games at Heriberto Hülse stadium with the capacity of 28,749 seats.
