History and achievements
Deportivo La Coruña is a famous Spanish football club based in the city of the same name (La Coruña), Galicia. The club was founded on May 11, 1906. The players have various nicknames, given by football fans: Depor, Los Turcos, The Galicians. The club has its own stadium Riazor, which seats more than 34 thousand spectators. At this ground both home and friendly games are held.
In 2012 the team marked a return to Spanish La Liga after a year spent in the Segunda. However, they did not manage to stay up in the next season. In 2014 Deportivo returned to the Spanish top flight.
The following major achievements can be attributed to the team: possession of the Spanish Cup twice (in 1995 and 2002), winning the Spanish Super Cup three times (in 1995, 2000 and 2002) and clinching the Intertoto Cup in 2008.
