History and achievements
Fakel Voronezh is a Russian football club that was established in 1947. The team’s title means “Torch”.
The side was created at the airplane plant and was simply called Voronezh, while the current name was adopted in 1976.
The club started competing in the Soviet League in 1954 and throughout their history floated up and down First and Second Leagues. The highest finish of the team in the top flight was in 1961 when they were 15th. The highest the team progressed in the Soviet Cup was the semifinals in 1984.
The club’s results in the Russian leagues are mediocre as the team played in all divisions and even competed in the amateur league in 2007. The best finish in the Russian Premier League was the 13th place in 2000.
The home ground of the team is called Tsentralny Profsoyuz Stadion and it can sit 31793 fans.
