FC Freiburg was founded in 1904. For 17 years (from 1991 to 2007) the team was managed by one coach Volker Finke, which is a record of Germany with nobody able to stay with one team for so long.
The team won Bundesliga 2 three times, last time it was in 2009.
Many notable players performed for the club, such as Joachim Low, Andreas Ibertsberger, Sebastian Kehl, Alexander Iashvili, Levan Kobiashvili, Boubacar Diarra, Papiss Cisse and others. Current national team manager Joachim Low is the best goal-scorer for the club with 81 goals.
Supporters of the club that come to Mage Solar Stadion, seating around 25,000 people, call them ‘Brazilians from Breisgau’. Nowadays the president of the club is Fritz Keller and the manager is Christian Streich. Today Freiburg is a strong mid-table squad in Bundesliga.
Despite the team not being a top-flight one, it’s always attracted many people by vivid and sparkling performance that’s never been sacrificed for better results.
