Heart of Midlothian is a football team from the city of Edinburgh. The team was organized by the attenders of the dancing club in 1874. The early days of the team were marked by considerable success. Hearts clinched the title of the championship in 1895 and 1896. In the period between 1891 and 1906 the side won four Scottish Cups.
The following successful spell started in the 1950s and lasted till early 1960s. During that time the club clinched the title of the League two times, also collecting collected one Scottish Cup and four Scottish League Cup four times. In 1988 and 1992 the side finished runner-up, but in the late 1990s and early 200s the team underwent a major financial upheaval. In 2004 Hearts were purchased by Lithuanian businessman Vladimir Romanov in 2004, but the financial difficulties still hampered the development of the club.
The last major trophy the team claimed was the 1998 Scottish Cup.
The main rival of the team is football club Hibernian. The fans usually use such nicknames as the Maroons, Hearts and the Jambos. The home arena is Tynecastle Stadium that can sit up to 17,420.
