History and achievements
Istanbul BB (‘İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediye Spor’) is a Turkish football club. The club is a relatively new one as it was founded in 1990 after unification of several amateur Istanbul teams.
Istanbul BB plays at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium with the capacity of 82,300 seats. This stadium is a renowned one being the major arena for the Turkey national football team.
In 2007 Istanbul BB joined the Turkish Super Lig and in the 2008/2009 season they finished in the 9th place – the team’s best result in the competition so far. In 2011 Istanbul became runner-up of the Turkish Cup.
The team develops and gradually attracts good players. Today the team features foreign players from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland and Sweden. The main squad mainly features Turkish players.
