Jiangsu Sainty F.C. is a Chinese football team from Nanjing that currently performs in the Chinese Super League.
The club was founded in April 1958 under the name of Jiangsu Provincial Team. A year later the team debuted in the Chinese National Games. The first season saw the club finish 12th. In 1963 the league was restructured and Jiangsu suffered relegation to the second tier. The year of 1973 witnessed the club’s promotion to the elite division. However, it was to prove a false dawn as the team fell into the Chinese Jia League in 1978.
After a 14-year wait, Jiangsu clinched the second division title and returned back to the top tier. In 1994 the club agreed a sponsorship deal and changed its name to Jiangsu Maint as a result. Unfortunately, during the next several years Jiangsu was deep in debt and ultimately slipped into the second division. On January 7, 2000 the club gained sponsorship from the Jiangsu Sainty International Group and adopted its current name. In 2005 the club relocated the Nanjing Olympic Sports Center which has seating for 62,000 supporters.
In 2007 Jiangsu Sainty claimed third place in the second division. A year later the club won promotion to the Chinese Super League as champions of the Chinese Jia League. In the 2012 season Jiangsu achieved its highest league placing to date as the team finished runners-up.
The club’s colours are blue’n’white shirts and blue shorts.
