Júbilo Iwata is a football team in Japan, located in Iwata, Shizuoka prefecture. It is Yamaha Motor Corporation’s team, founded in 1970, though the team is no longer funded by Yamaha. It came through Shizuoka, Tōkai football leagues, the Japan Soccer League before it became the J. League. And in 1994 Júbilo was promoted to the top division, the J1 league.
Since 1998 the team play in the top flight and their period from 1997 to 2003 was very prolific. In 1997, 1999 and 2002 Júbilo Iwata won J. League Division, in 1998 they won J. League Cup, in 2003 the won Emperor’s Cup, in 2000, 2003 and 2004 they succeeded in Japanese Super Cup.
But since 2004 Júbilo Iwata’s results have worsened and the glory era ended as the experienced players aged and newcomers weren’t strong enough. Their latest success was in 2010 when Júbilo won J. League Cup. At the end of 2013 season the club was relegated to the second tier.
The team play their home matches in Yamaha Stadium, its capacity is 16,893. Their home kit is white and blue.
