Kecskeméti TE is a professional football club based in Kecskemét. The side performs in the Hungarian top tier.
On June 11, 1911 local workers decided to create a football club. The first match came against KSC on August 15, 1911. In 1913 the current violet shirt arrived. The 1946/1947 campaign saw the club win promotion to NBII. Until 2008 Kecskeméti TE languished in the lower divisions. In 2006 János Versegi became the president of the club. That marked the start of the team’s resurgence. Kecskeméti TE had a stellar debut season in the OTP Bank Liga, finishing fifth. In the 2009/2010 campaign the side claimed a highly creditable tenth place. But the glory days were still to come. In 2011 Kecskeméti TE progressed to the Hungarian Cup final where the team outclassed Videoton FC, thus claiming its first silverware. That victory allowed the club to play in Europe. The first international match came against FC Aktobe and ended in a 1-1 draw.
Széktói Stadion hosts the club’s home matches. Its seating capacity is 6,300 people.
