FC Koper is a Slovenian football team founded in 1920 in the town of Koper.
Until 1991, the club competed in various Yugoslavian leagues and was considered as one of the most prominent clubs representing Slovenia. After Slovenia got independence in 1991, Koper began to play in the newly formed Slovenian PrvaLiga. In the mid-1990s, they experienced financial hardships and bounced up and down between the first and second tiers. In the 2000/01 season, Koper returned to the top flight and plays there to date. They claimed their first silverware in the shape of Slovenian Cup in 2006 and repeated the feat next year. The team’s historic campaign was in the 2009/10 season when they were crowned the Slovenian PrvaLiga champions for the first time in their history and welcomed the Slovenian Supercup to their trophy cabinet.
Koper players wear blue and yellow kits. They play their home matches at Bonifika Stadium with the capacity of 4,047 seats.
