History and achievements
Melbourne Victory FC was founded in 2004 and plays in the Australian A-League starting from the 2005/2006 season. The club’s headquarters is based in Melbourne, Victoria. It is probably the most successful side of the continent, as it won two A-League titles, becoming the champions during the Final series. The Melbourne Victory is also the only club, which managed to win the double, as they won the Pre-Season Challenge Cup and the Australian championship during the 2008/2009 season.
The club first played at the Olympic park, where they spent their debut A-League season. The stadium had a low capacity, as the seated places could be found only on the two sides of the pitch. The average attendance during the first season was just 14,158. On 2 September 2006 the club played against FC Sydney at the Telstra Dome stadium, which has the capacity of 56,000 people. The game had a stunning success in terms of attendance as 39,370 football fans came to the stadium to see the game. So, there was no surprise, when the club decided to move to that venue on a permanent basis. Most of fans were skeptical about this move, but the very first season at the new stadium proved them to be wrong, as the average attendance of 27,728 viewers broke the all-time record by 10,000. On 23 May 2007 the club announced signing of a tenancy agreement, which allowed them to move into the recently built AAMI Park stadium with a 30,050 all-seated capacity.
The club’s home kit consists of a blue shirt with white elements, white shorts and blue socks. The away kit has a yellow-blue coloring.
