Metalurh is a Ukrainian football club that was established in 1996. The forerunner of the team was the football club Antratsyt Kirovske that competed in the Second League. The side was reorganized in 1996 and adopted the title Metalurh Donetsk. Later Metalurh was acquired by the Ukrainian industrial company ISD that is owned by a famous businessman Serhiy Taruta. The club received promotion to the top division in 1997 and they still compete in the Premier League.
In the early 2000s the team showed the highest results in its history, claiming bronze medals of the domestic championship and twice finishing as a runner-up in the cup.
Notable former players are Aílton da Silva, Yaya Touré and Jordi Cruyff.
The home ground of the team is Metalurh Stadium that has a capacity of 5,094.
