Nea Salamina Famagusta is a football club in Cyprus, established in 1948 in Famagusta. After the invasion of Turkey in 1974 the club moved to Larnaca. It became a member of the Cyprus Football Association in 1953. In 1954 Nea Salamina won the Second Division and promoted to the top division. The 1955/56 season they finished third in the league and since then three more seasons they were third, the last time was in 1994/95. That is their best league result so far.
1970s was a difficult decade for the team as they were forced to move and several times were close to relegation which finally occurred in 1978/79. The following season the won the second division and returned to the top flight.
They made their first impressive achievement in 1990, winning the Cypriot Cup. The first decade of the new millennium was full of ups and downs, when Nea Salamina was relegated and then promoted several times.
Their home ground is Ammochostos Stadium with a capacity of 5,500. Before the Turkish invasion in 1974 the team used GSE Stadium.
