Paksi SE is a Hungarian football side from Paks. The club competes in the Nemzeti Bajnokság.
Paksi SE can trace its roots back to the club formed in 1952. In 1970 the team gained entry to the Nemzeti Bajnokság III. But it took 36 years for the side to win promotion to the top tier. The Nuclearteam’s first match in the elite division ended in a 2-0 win over Dunakanyar-Vác FC. At the end of the season the team secured several vital victories which helped Paksi SE remain with the senior set-up for another year.
The 2010/11 campaign was the most prolific to date. Paksi SE delivered its first silverware as the side lifted the Hungarian Cup. On top of that, the club finished the OTP Bank Liga in the second place, thus qualifying for the Europa League. After defeating UE Santa Coloma and Tromsø IL, Paksi was drawn against Hearts. Unfortunately, the Scottish side was awarded a controversial penalty and Paksi was eliminated from the tournament.
The team is nicknamed Atomcsapat after the only nuclear plant in Hungary which is located in Paks. Stadion PSE, where Paksi SE plays its home matches, can hold 5,000 people.
