Reims

History and achievements

Stade Reims is a French football club based in the town of Reims. It was founded in 1911.

The club reached the European Cup final twice and lost to Real Madrid in both cases (3-4 in 1956, 0-2 in 1959). Reims is a six times French Championship winner but it was far back in 1962 when the club succeeded for the last time.

The team’s home ground is Stade Auguste Delaune which seats more than 21,000 fans.

The season 2011/2012 was a long awaited success as the club finished second in League 2 and finally made it back to League 1 after many years of wandering in minor leagues.

The club boasts several achievements on the international arena reached in the middle of the last century. Apart from two European Cup finals, the squad claimed the Latin Cup in 1953 which was among the major international trophies at that time.
