San Marcos de Arica is a Chilean football club from the town of Arica founded in 1978.
The club embarked on their way in the Primera División B where they, in fact, played the majority of seasons throughout their history. The early 1980s were the most glorious years for the club as they competed in the Chilean Primera División since 1982 till 1985 climbing up to the forth position in the 1984 league table at the utmost. In 1986 San Marcos dropped down to the second tier again and led largely unremarked existence as a lower-to-mid table side for the next 20 years. In 2006, the things became even worth as the team slumped to the third division for several seasons. But then the club’s downturn changed into success and they began a gradual rise until won their ticket back to the top flight for the 2013 season.
San Marcos play their home matches at Estadio Carlos Dittborn which can host up to 14,373 spectators.
