Sheffield United is a football club that was created on 22 March 1889 by Sir Charles Clegg.
The most fruitful period in the club’s history dates back to late 19th and early 20th centuries. In the season 1897/1898 the team were crowned the champions of England, finishing runners up in the season 1896/1897 and 1899/1900. During that time they also collected the FA Cups in 1899, 1902, 1915 and 1925. Since the last major trophy the club only managed to take the silver medals of the 1936 domestic cup.
The period between 1975 and 1981 is the darkest in the club’s history when Sheffield United fell into the Forth Division.
In the season 20022/2003 the team progressed to the semi-final of the domestic cup and three years later claimed a spot in the Premier League where they stayed for a season.
The nicknames are the Red & White Wizards, the Blades and Red and White Army. The main rival of the side is Sheffield Wednesday.
Bramall Lane is the home stadium of the team that can hold up to 32,702 supporters. The facility is the oldest stadium in the world still hosting football matches.
