The history of FC Sibir Novosibirsk goes back to 1936. Initially that was the team of Novosibirsk aircraft production plant. They competed in Group E in 1937, in 1946/47 they played in Third Group and Second Group, between 1957 and 1960 and 1964/65 they stayed in Class B, since 1969 and until 1984 they were in Group B and Second League. In 1984 the team lost its place in Second League and revived in 1987.
After the dissolution of the USSR the team competed in Russian First League (the second tier) in 1992 but were relegated to Russian Second League. Between 1994 and 1996 they played in Russian First League and then dropped out. They competed in Zone East until 2004 except the season of 2000, when they competed in an amateur league. In 2005 Chkalovets-1936 returned to the First Division.
The team’s name was changed to Sibir in 2006 and in 2009 they finished second thus advanced to the Russian Premier League but after a season they were relegated to Russian National Football League.
