Śląsk Wrocław is a football club in Poland, established in 1947. The word Śląsk refers to the name of Silesia, it is the region, where Wrocław is located.
Initially it was named Pionier Wrocław, and then was renamed several times, been called Legia Wrocław, Centralny Wojskowy Klub Sportowy Wrocław, Okręgowy Wojskowy Klub Sportowy Wrocław, Wojskowy Klub Sportowy Śląsk Wrocław, Wrocławski Klub Sportowy Śląsk Wrocław Sportowa Spółka Akcyjna and Wrocławski Klub Sportowy Śląsk Wrocław Spółka Akcyjna.
The team’s first league title came in 1977 and the second one was in 2011/12. In the 1975/76 and 1986/87seasons they were Polish Cup winners. In 2009 the team was Ekstraklasa Cup holder; they won the Polish SuperCup in 1987 and 2012.
Śląsk Wrocław had played their home matches at Olympic Stadium and Stadion Oporowska before they moved to Stadion Miejski, which has 42,771 seats. The stadium was built for UEFA Euro 2012.
