FC Spartak Trnava is a football club in Slovakia, located in Trnava. It was founded when two clubs, Šk Čechie and ČšŠk, merged into a new club, named ŠK Rapid Trnava. The initial name was changed to TSS Trnava, then to Sokol NV Trnava, ZTJ Kovosmalt Trnava and in 1953 the team got its current name Spartak Trnava.
The first Czechoslovak league title they won in 1968. The following season they were league winners and reached the semifinals of the European Cup. The team won the more Czechoslovak First League titles in 1971, 1972 and 1973. In 1973 and 1974 they reached the quarterfinal of the European Cup. Spartak Trnava won five Czechoslovak Cup trophies.
In 1995/96 the team was third in the Slovak Super Liga, in 1996/97 they were runners-up and in 1998 won Slovak Cup and Slovak Super Cup.
The team’s home venue is Štadión Antona Malatinského, which has a capacity of 18,448. It is the largest stadium in Slovakia.
