St. Mirren is a football team based in the city of Paisley, Renfrewshire. The team was organized in 1877 as a club for gentlemen and included such sports as cricket and rugby. St. Mirren reached the Scottish Cup final in the season 1907/1908, yet they lost to Celtic 5 – 1. The title was claimed only in 1926 and that achievement was repeated in 1959 and 1987.
The highest ever finish of the club in the top tier was in the season 1979/1980 when St. Mirren stood third behind Celtic and Aberdeen. The same season the side tasted the honors of the Anglo-Scottish Cup, beating in the ultimate match Bristol City F.C.
The season 2005/2006 saw the club winning the Scottish Premier League, as well as the Scottish Challenge Cup, when they defeated in the final Hamilton Academical 2–1.
