St Patrick's Athletic is an Irish football club located in Dublin, Ireland. The club currently competes in the Premier Division. The team’s home ground, Richmond Park, has a capacity of 5,340 people. The traditional colors of the club are red and white. St Patrick's Athletic shares a bitter rivalry with Shelbourne, Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians.
The club was established in 1929. In 1951 the Supersaints joined the League of Ireland and entitled the league in their debut season. From 1951 to 1961 the club was a major driving force in the Irish football, when St Patrick's Athletic won 3 League of Ireland titles, 2 FAI Cups and the League of Ireland Shield.
During the late 1960s and 1970s the Saints won no major trophies, despite signing such brilliant footballers, as Noel Campbell and Paul McGrath. The latter was subsequently voted as the PFAI Player of the Year and secured a move to Manchester United.
The club's years of glory date back to the 1990s and 2000s. The Saints won 5 national league titles, 2 League of Ireland Cups, the 1999 FAI Super Cup and 3 Leinster Senior Cups during that period. The club has never been relegated from the Premier Division.
