Stade Lavallois Mayenne Football Club is located in Laval, France. It was formed in 1902. Winning the Division d’Honneur in 1964 the team advanced to the Championnat de France amateur. The following season they won the highest level of amateur football under the management of Michel Le Milinaire.
Stade Lavallois gradually advanced and finally in 1976 they reached the highest division. For 13 consecutive seasons they competed in Division 1 and in 1983 finished it fifth. That allowed them to make the UEFA Cup debut. There Laval eliminated Dynamo Kiev and after that was knocked out by FK Austria Wien. In 1989 the team dropped from the top division and in 2005/06 faced relegation to the Championnat National. In the 2008/09 season Laval earned promotion to Ligue 2.
Stade Francis Le Basser, where the team plays their home matches, has a capacity of 18,739.
