The team was found in 1957 in the city of Tomsk and led a largely unremarked existence till the 1990s. In the 1990s, they began a gradual rise to the footballing forefront and in the 2005 season Tom Tomsk finally made their first run into the Premier League. The club regularly finished in the second half of the table. In the 2011/12 season, they dropped down to the second tier but promptly returned to the top flight. At the end of 2013/2014 season Tom were relegated back to FNL.
