Westerlo is a Belgian football club. The team was founded in 1942 when two clubs Westerlo Sport and Sportkring Westerlo merged to create a new side. Most of its history Westerlo played in the third league and received promotion to the second division only in 1993. Four years later Westerlo was strong enough to get a ticket to the top league and secure a strong mid-table position there. The highest finish of the team in the Jupiler league table is a sixth place in the seasons 1999/2000, 2003/2004 and 2008/2009. Westerlo got relegated to Belgian Second Division after 2011/2012 season.
In 2001 the club claimed its first major trophy – the Belgian Cup.
The official colors of the team are yellow and blue. The home ground of the team is Het Kuipje (that means "The Small Tank”). The stadium can hold up to 7,982 football supporters.
