ZESCO United is a football club in Zambia, located in Ndola, currently the team plays in the top division. It was founded in 1974.
ZESCO United was the first team to qualify for the group stages of the CAF Champions league. They were the richest team in Zambia, together with Zanaco F.C. because they had been sponsored by the Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation Limited.
During their history ZESCO United won Zambian Premier League three times: in 2007, 2008 and 2010 and in that years they won the Barclays Cup titles. In 2006 they won Zambian Cup title.
In 2008 they reached the first round of the CAF Champions League, in 2009 were knocked out at the group stage and in 2011 ZESCO climbed to the second round of the CAF Champions League. Thrice the team appeared in the CAF Confederation Cup: in 2006 and 2010 they reached the first round of the tournament and in 2011 they went further reaching the second round of 16.
Their home stadium is Trade Fair Grounds with the capacity of 18,000. It is sponsored by the Konkola Copper Mines.
