MŠK Žilina is a football club in Slovakia, named after the city it is located in. It was founded in 1908 and initially was named Zsolnai Testgyakorlók Köre, but its name was changed several times. The team’s first Slovak league title came in 1928. Between 1945 and 1993 the team competed in Czechoslovak League and their best result was the third place in the 1946/47 season.
Since the establishment of the Slovak League, MŠK Žilina has competed in the Slovak Superliga except the 1995/96 season, when they played in the second division. The team won league titles in 2001/02, 2002/03, 2003/04, 2006/07, 2009/10 and 2011/12.
In the UEFA Cup in 2008/09 the team reached the group, where they were placed with Hamburger SV, AFC Ajax, Slavia Prague and Aston Villa. They were eliminated before the knockout stages. In 2010/11 UEFA Champions League Žilina reached the group stage at the expense of Sparta Prague.
Štadión pod Dubňom in Žilina is the team’s home venue. It has a capacity of 11,200 seats.
