Abel Resino is former professional goalkeeper and a coach. He was born on 2 February 1960 in Velada, Spain.
Abel spent the majority of his career playing for Atlético Madrid. He made a total of 243 solid appearances for the club in between 1986 and 1995. Resino recorded two consecutive Spanish Cups together with Atlético. It’s a tidbit, that for his craft and agility Abel got a moniker El Gato, which means the Cat in English.
In 2005, Abel Resino decided to take up coaching. Since 2005 till 2012, he coached such teams as Ciudad Murcia, Levante, Castellón, Atlético Madrid, Valladolid, Granada. In 2013, Resino took up coaching reins at struggling Celta Vigo and managed to keep the club in Primera. A short time later Resino was released.
