William McIntosh Davies, commonly known as Billy Davies, is a former Scottish professional midfielder and a manager. He was born on 31 May 1964 in Glasgow, Scotland.
At the early years of his career Billy played for such clubs as Rangers FC, Elfsborg, St. Mirren and Leicester City. In between 1990 and 1993, he made 104 appearances for Dunfermline Athletic and then spent five prominent seasons with Motherwell amassing 116 matches for that time.
In 1998, Davies was appointed as a head coach of Motherwell and saved them from relegation. In 2004 he moved to Preston North End and went on with Derby County in the 2006/07 season. It was much to his help that the club finished third in Football League Championship that season. In 2008, Davies took charge over Nottingham Forest. He was sacked after the play-offs failure in the 2010/11 season, but in February 2013 Davies took over the coaching reins at Forest again and managed the team till March 2014.
