Cesare Claudio Prandelli is an Italian manager.
He started his playing career in Cremonese in 1974, and then played for Atalanta since 1978 till 1990 with a six-year spell for Juventus in between.
In 1990 he started his managerial career as a youth coach of Atalanta and headed the team up to 1997 with a short break, when he was a caretaker of the first team.
Prandelli coached Lecce for a short period of time and then he headed Hellas Verona, Venezia. In 2002 he started to coach Parma and spent two years with the team. That was the period when Prandelli got fame.
After that he headed Roma for a short period of time but soon left it for Fiorentina in 2005. Under his guidance Fiorentina became fourth in the season though, because of the Calciopoli match-fixing scandal, they were not allowed to participate in Champions League and were deprived of 15 points before the 2006/07 season.
The next year Prandelli brought the team to the 6th place in Serie A and in the 2007/08 season reached the semifinal. In that season Fiorentina got a chance to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
He was awarded as the Serie A Coach of the Year for his efficient work in the 2007/08 season. In the next season Prandelli led the team to the 4th place in Serie A being ahead of Genoa.
After the 2010 World Cup championship in South Africa Prandelli was hired as the head coach of the Italian national team.
In 2012 he took Squadra Azzurra to the final of European Championships, but fell to Spain 0-4.
In 2014 Prandelli failed to pass the group stage at the World Cup and resigned, following two losses to Costa Rica and Uruguay.
