Dietmar Hamann is a former German football player. He was born on 27 August 1973 in Waldsassen and started his career at the youth level in FC Wacker München at the age of five.
At the age of 11 the player was scouted by the German giants Bayern Munich where he would later start his senior career. He made his debut for the first team in 1993 and during the following five years featured in 105 matches and netted six goals. After a short stay at Newcastle United in the season 1998/1999 the midfielder sighed a deal with Liverpool where he would cement a place in the first team and became one of the most important players.Hamann played in the team for seven years, making 191 appearances and scoring eight goals and won the cup treble (League Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Cup).
In 2006 the player moved to Manchester City and played in the team for three years featuring in 64 games.
In 2010 Hamann signed a one-year deal with Milton Keynes Dons for the player-coach position.Later he managed the English sides Leicester City and Stockport County.
